Katie Carter King

I'm a writer, researcher, and editor based in Atlanta, Georgia. I specialize in using all-too-often overlooked history to tell important, engaging stories — the kind that challenge what people think they know about the past, and change how they see the present.

When I'm not excavating my own stories, I run Magpie Projects, a boutique research consultancy that specializes in developing dynamic, factually rigorous historical narratives. Prior to that, I spent three years directing research for all Alton Brown projects. Throughout my career I've written for public radio, produced a short documentary, and developed communications strategies for nonprofits.
